Children's zoo

Meet the farm animals, hear what they say, learn gentle hands, and be a zookeeper for a day.

Before you pet

🧼 Wash your hands

  1. Wet your hands.
  2. Soap, and scrub for 20 seconds: sing the alphabet song.
  3. Rinse and dry.
  4. Do it after you touch animals, and before you eat.

🖐 Gentle hands

  1. Walk, do not run.
  2. Pet with a flat, soft hand on the back.
  3. Never touch faces, ears or tails.
  4. No food from home: animals have their own diets.
  5. Ask a grown-up or a keeper first.

Meet the animals

Goat

I love to climb! I nibble hay and leaves.

Pet my back, not my head or horns.

Grown-up facts →

Sheep

My woolly coat keeps me warm.

Feel my wool with a flat hand.

Grown-up facts →

Rabbit

I wiggle my nose and munch on hay.

Sit still and let me come to you.

Grown-up facts →

Chicken

I scratch for seeds and lay eggs.

Watch me; I do not like to be held.

Grown-up facts →

Duck

I splash and dabble in the pond.

Keep fingers away from my bill.

Grown-up facts →

Pony

I am a small horse with a shaggy mane.

Stand by my shoulder, never behind me.

Grown-up facts →

Alpaca

I hum softly. My fleece is soft.

Pet my neck gently.

Grown-up facts →

Guinea pig

I squeak "wheek" at snack time.

Use two hands, sitting on the floor.

Grown-up facts →

Donkey

Hee-haw! Look at my long ears.

Stroke my neck, slowly.

Grown-up facts →

Pig

I dig with my snout. I am very smart.

Let me sniff your hand first.

Grown-up facts →

Cow

I chew and chew and chew my cud.

Watch from the fence.

Grown-up facts →

Llama

I am taller than my cousin the alpaca.

Give me space; I like my personal bubble.

Grown-up facts →

The voices are our own server voices (Piper), not recordings of animals.
